Moulton College are dedicated to ensuring the construction workforce has the right skills for now and the future based on our three strategic priorities:
- Developing careers for construction industry workers,
- Delivering standards and qualifications,
- Providing access to high quality training and development.
This session will give delegates an overview to what’s available in qualifications and training – busting some myths and providing a simple route-map to success. Our experts will be covering full and part-time learning and apprenticeships available to support the construction industry in accessing and developing a competent, trained and qualified workforce for now and the future.
We will explain some of the complexities of navigating your way through the current qualification and standards framework and then leave plenty of time for discussion on your individual questions and queries.

Matthew Cappell
Head of Construction
Matt started working in the construction industry as an apprentice carpenter before running a successful carpentry company working around the country in commercial and domestic settings.
His educational journey started with the Warwickshire College Group working there for 4.5 years as a lecturer. Moving on then to City College Coventry as a workplace assessor Matt was responsible for the completion of 60 NVQ students per year before returning to WCG in a promoted lecturing role. When the opportunity arose to move to Moulton College to head up the School of Construction Matt considered that this gave him the opportunity to use the full range of his considerable skills, knowledge and expertise. He took the chance and has not looked back. The School is currently going from strength to strength and has risen to the challenge of online delivery during these difficult times amazing well.
His passion lies with developing young people to thrive and grow within the construction industry and providing employers with their top employees of the future.
Steven Thompson
Head of Apprenticeships and Employer Engagement
Steve is our expert in all things apprenticeships and has over 25 years of experience in construction, training, education. He has a clear vision for addressing the difficulties of today and the challenges of tomorrow. His experience includes directorial responsibility for overseeing the development of commercial training provision for two large regional colleges and running a large apprenticeship contract with a Midlands provider delivering high quality, multi-disciplined frameworks and standards in the sector.
In addition to his experience of working within education and training he founded, and grew, a multi-million pound construction company overseeing the construction of several hospitals, schools and housing projects.
His passion lies in working with employers to deliver high quality training solutions for the future, supporting economic prosperity within the construction industry.
